Oto Hearing is an authorized manufacturer by Etymotic Research to manufacture ER Musician earplugs that are required to use an acoustic mass meter to verify that these earplugs have the correct volume of air in the sound bore to produce flat attenuation when the filters are in place. Musicians and sound crews spend many hours exposed to different sound levels, sometimes for a long period of time but cannot work in the muffled world of foam earplugs.
Flat noise attenuation provides reassurance in protecting your hearing while allowing the user the ability to hear accurately. Musicians require different amounts of hearing protection, depending on the sound levels they encounter during rehearsals and performances. As labeled by the number classification, ER 25's and ER 9's provide either more or less attenuation than ER 15's. Some musicians use one type of attenuator in one ear and one type in the other ear, depending on the source and location of the sound.
The ER Musician plugs are manufactured in two different materials, one being Oto Seal which is a firm material that will become semi-flexible from body temperature when worn and the other from a high grade soft silicone. The MUSICIAN CUSTOM EARMOLDS box can be located on our order form.
